Cracked or chipped
Repair for broken, cracked, or chipped teeth.
Most broken teeth aren’t emergencies in the strict sense, but they need attention soon — cracks tend to spread, and exposed dentin is sensitive and at risk of infection.
Small chips can usually be repaired in a single visit with cosmetic bonding — a tooth-colored composite shaped onto the tooth and hardened with a curing light. The repair feels like your own tooth, looks natural, and lasts for years with normal use.
Larger fractures often need a crown to protect what’s left of the tooth and prevent the crack from spreading. If the crack reaches the pulp inside the tooth, you may also need root canal treatment first — we handle that in-house in a single appointment.
Save any pieces you can find and bring them in. Rinse your mouth with warm water; use a cold compress on the outside of your face if there’s swelling. Avoid chewing on that side until you can be seen, and call us promptly — cracks left untreated tend to get worse, not better.
When to come in
Come see us if…
- Any visible chip, crack, or break in a tooth.
- A tooth that hurts when you chew or feels “different.”
- A sharp edge cutting your tongue or cheek.
