How long does Invisalign treatment usually take?
Most adult cases at our Stuarts Draft office finish in nine to fifteen months, depending on how much movement your bite needs. Minor crowding or a single relapsed front tooth can wrap up in as little as six months. Dr. Weatherwax gives you a realistic timeline at your consult, based on a digital scan of your actual teeth.
Will I have a lisp with Invisalign?
You may notice a slight lisp for the first day or two as your tongue learns the new shape of the aligners. Almost everyone adjusts within a week, and people you talk to rarely hear it. Reading aloud at home for a few minutes a day speeds things up considerably.
Can I eat with the aligners in?
No — you take the aligners out to eat and drink anything other than water. That's actually one of the advantages over traditional braces: no food restrictions. You just need to brush before putting the trays back in, and plan on wearing them about 22 hours a day for treatment to stay on track.
Is Invisalign more expensive than braces?
Invisalign and traditional braces usually land in a similar price range for comparable cases. How often do I switch to a new set of aligners?
Most patients switch trays every one to two weeks, on a schedule Dr. Weatherwax sets based on your case. You'll come in for a quick check every six to eight weeks so we can confirm everything is tracking. If a tooth isn't moving as planned, we adjust the plan rather than letting it drift.
