How often should I get a cleaning?
For most healthy adults, every six months keeps things on track. If you've had gum issues, smoke, are pregnant, or have a history of frequent cavities, Dr. Weatherwax may recommend every three or four months for a while. The right interval depends on you, and we adjust it based on what we actually see at your visits.
Do you see kids?
Yes. We see children from their first tooth through high school graduation, and family appointments stacked together are easy to schedule. Many Stuarts Draft families bring three generations to our office on the same day. We keep the experience calm and unhurried, especially for first-time visits.
What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?
You're far from alone — we see new patients all the time who've been away from the dentist for a decade or longer. There's no lecture and no judgment. We start with a comprehensive exam, take X-rays, and build an honest plan to get you back on track at a pace that works for your situation.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
For emergencies and urgent issues, yes — we hold same-day slots during clinical hours specifically so our Stuarts Draft patients don't have to wait. For routine cleanings and exams, scheduling a few weeks ahead is usually best, but we'll always check for cancellations if you need to come in sooner.
What if I don't have dental insurance?
You have options. Virginia Dental Club is a flat-rate monthly membership designed for families without dental benefits — cleanings, exams, and X-rays are included, and everything else comes at a meaningful discount. We also accept CareCredit financing and offer in-office payment plans. Ask the front desk and we'll work something out.
