Cosmetic dentistry
A more confident smile, on your terms.
Beautiful, natural-looking smile improvements — designed around what you'd actually want.
Cosmetic dentistry isn't about chasing a magazine smile. It's about feeling confident when you laugh in a photo or talk in a meeting. Dr. Weatherwax has training in cosmetic techniques and helps you decide what fits — sometimes that's a single bonded chip repair, sometimes a few veneers, sometimes a full smile makeover.
We walk you through every option, show you what's realistic, and are honest about what each treatment will and won't change. No pressure. No upselling. Flexible payment options keep cosmetic care within reach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Cosmetic dentistry — the questions we hear most.
How long does professional teeth whitening last?
Professional whitening results typically last one to three years, depending on your habits. Coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, and dark sodas shorten that window; consistent home care extends it. Most patients touch up with a take-home gel kit once a year or so to keep the color where they want it. You can choose between in-office and take-home options at your visit.
Do veneers ruin my natural teeth?
Traditional porcelain veneers require removing a thin layer of enamel from the front of the tooth, which is permanent. They don't ruin the tooth, but the tooth will always need a veneer or crown on it afterward. For some patients, minimal-prep or no-prep veneers are an option. Dr. Weatherwax walks you through every tradeoff before you commit.
What's the difference between bonding and veneers?
Bonding uses tooth-colored composite resin applied directly to the tooth in a single visit — it's quicker and less expensive, but typically lasts five to seven years before needing touch-up. Veneers are custom-made porcelain shells bonded to the front of the tooth; they cost more and take two visits, but last ten to fifteen years and resist staining better.
Will my insurance cover cosmetic work?
Most dental insurance plans don't cover purely cosmetic procedures like whitening, veneers, or cosmetic bonding. Plans sometimes cover crowns or restorations that happen to have a cosmetic benefit if the tooth also has decay or damage. We verify your coverage and give you a clear written estimate before any work starts.
Can I see what my smile will look like before committing?
Yes. For veneers and larger cosmetic plans, Dr. Weatherwax uses a digital smile preview and, in many cases, a temporary mock-up bonded directly to your teeth so you can see and feel the proposed result before any permanent work is done. We'd rather take an extra appointment to get it right than rush something you'll live with for years.
