Cosmetic bonding: small change, big difference.
Bonding is the simplest, most affordable cosmetic option for your teeth. A skilled hand with composite resin can fix chips, close small gaps, lengthen short teeth, or even out edges, usually in a single visit.
We use the same tooth-colored composite material we use for fillings. After lightly etching the tooth surface, we shape and sculpt the composite to the area being treated, harden it with a curing light, and polish it to a natural-looking finish. Most cases don’t require any anesthesia and take 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
Bonding is best for small cosmetic adjustments. For larger changes, covering severe discoloration, dramatically reshaping multiple teeth, veneers are usually the better choice because they’re stronger and more stain-resistant.
Bonded composite typically lasts five to ten years before it needs touch-up or replacement. It can stain a little over time (similar to natural enamel) and can chip if you bite hard objects, but for the price and the speed, it’s a great option.
