Step-by-step

How Invisalign works.

Invisalign uses a series of custom clear aligners that gradually move your teeth into a planned position. No metal brackets, no wires — just smooth plastic trays you swap out every one to two weeks.

Treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth. We use that scan to design a 3D treatment plan that maps every small movement from start to finish. You’ll see a preview of what your teeth will look like at the end before you commit to anything.

Once you approve the plan, the lab fabricates a series of custom aligners — usually somewhere between 15 and 40 for an average adult case. You wear each set for one to two weeks, 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat and brush.

We see you back every six to eight weeks for short check-in visits to track progress and hand off the next batch of aligners. Some cases use small tooth-colored attachments that act as anchor points to help certain teeth move predictably; these are barely visible and come off when treatment is done.

Most adult cases finish in 12 to 18 months. Once your teeth are in their final position, you’ll wear retainers (full-time at first, then nights only) to keep them there long-term.
