Replace it soon

Lost a filling or crown? Call us.

A lost filling or crown isn’t usually painful right away, but it leaves the tooth vulnerable to sensitivity, decay, and fracture. We’ll get you in to fix it.

If you still have the crown, save it — if it’s intact, we can often clean it up and recement it the same day. If it’s damaged or you can’t find it, we’ll discuss whether a new crown is needed and place a temporary one to protect the tooth until the permanent one is ready.

A lost filling exposes the inside of the tooth to bacteria and acid. Avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean. Drugstore temporary filling kits can hold the area for a couple of days but aren’t a long-term fix.

Most lost fillings are replaced in a single appointment. Bigger gaps sometimes require an inlay, onlay, or full crown — we’ll talk through the options at the visit.

When to come in

Come see us if…

  • Your crown has fallen off (with or without the tooth coming with it).
  • You feel a sudden hole or rough edge where a filling used to be.
  • A tooth has become noticeably sensitive after a filling came out.
