Do you accept my insurance?
Almost certainly yes — we work with most major dental insurance plans in the Stuarts Draft and Augusta County area. Call us at 540-414-8423 with your insurance details and we'll verify your specific coverage before your first visit, so you know exactly what's covered and what isn't before you sit in the chair.
What if I don't have dental insurance?
Ask about Virginia Dental Club. It's a flat monthly membership program designed for Stuarts Draft families without dental benefits. Cleanings, exams, and X-rays are included, and you get a meaningful discount on everything else. No claims, no waiting periods, no surprise denials. We also accept CareCredit financing and in-office payment plans.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. New patients are welcome at Willis & Associates Family Dentistry - Stuarts Draft. You can use the online registration link to get started before your first visit, or call 540-414-8423 to schedule. Family appointments stacked together on the same day are easy for us to coordinate.
How long does a first visit take?
Plan on about an hour for your first appointment. That includes a comprehensive exam with Dr. Weatherwax, any X-rays you need, a cleaning if there's time in the schedule, and a clear written treatment plan if anything needs follow-up. We'll never spring a number on you without explaining what it covers first.
Can I be sedated for my appointment?
Yes — both nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available. Nitrous is a mild gas inhaled through a nose mask and wears off in minutes, so you can drive yourself home. Oral sedation is a prescribed pill that produces a deeper calm, though you'll need someone to drive you home afterward. Mention sedation when you book and we'll review your medical history first.
Do you do root canals here?
Yes — non-surgical root canals are performed in-house with no referral to a specialist. It's one of Dr. Weatherwax's specialties, which is why we keep this work in Stuarts Draft instead of sending patients to Staunton or Charlottesville. Most root canals are finished in a single visit of about 60 to 90 minutes.
Do you do dental implants here?
Yes — Dr. Weatherwax plans, places, and restores dental implants in our Stuarts Draft office. Most small-town practices send these cases out to specialists; we don't. The same dentist who does your cleanings also handles your implant work, start to finish, with bone grafting available in-house if you need it.
What if I have a dental emergency?
Call 540-414-8423. We hold same-day emergency appointments during clinical hours (Mon–Fri, 8AM–5PM) so you don't have to drive to a hospital ER for tooth pain, a broken tooth, or a lost crown. The earlier in the day you reach us, the better the chance of being seen the same morning.
Do you see kids?
Yes — we see children from their first tooth through high school graduation. Many Stuarts Draft families bring multiple generations to our office on the same day, and we make scheduling family appointments together easy. First visits for kids are kept calm, unhurried, and focused on making the dentist feel like a normal part of life.
