Fixed tooth replacement

Dental bridges to fill the gap.

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a fixed (non-removable) restoration anchored to the teeth on either side of the gap.

A traditional bridge has two crowns on either end — placed on the teeth that border the gap — with one or more replacement teeth (called pontics) suspended between them. Once cemented, the whole unit functions like natural teeth: you brush and floss it (with a small flossing aid for under the pontic), and you don’t take it out.

Bridges are a good option when the teeth on either side of the gap are already crowned, have large fillings, or otherwise need restorative work. They’re typically completed over two visits and last about ten to fifteen years with good home care.

When the neighboring teeth are healthy, a single dental implant is usually a better long-term replacement — it doesn’t require crowning healthy teeth, and it preserves the bone where the missing tooth was. We’ll talk through both options honestly so you can choose the right one for your situation.
