When a tooth must come out
Gentle extractions, with replacement planned at the same visit.
We always try to save a natural tooth first. When that’s not possible, we focus on a calm, comfortable extraction and a clear plan for what comes next.
Most simple extractions take only a few minutes once the tooth is fully numb. We use slow, careful technique — nothing yanked, nothing rushed — and you can choose nitrous oxide or oral sedation if you’d prefer to be more relaxed during the appointment.
Surgical extractions (impacted teeth, severely broken teeth, complex root anatomy) take a little longer but are still routine. We discuss the procedure step by step before we start so you know exactly what’s coming.
Aftercare is straightforward: keep the gauze in for an hour, avoid spitting or using a straw for 24 hours, eat soft foods for a couple of days, and follow the home-care instructions we’ll send home with you. Most patients are back to normal within two or three days.
Replacing the tooth matters. We’ll talk about implants, bridges, or partial dentures at the same visit so you don’t leave wondering what’s next.
When to come in
Come see us if…
- A tooth has been recommended for extraction.
- A tooth is broken below the gum line and can’t be restored.
